TARA - Dasa Mahavidya series

Tara comes second in the Dus Mahavidya pantheon. Her origin story takes place during the Amrit Manthan. During which the mother goddess took the form of Tara Devi to breastfeed Lord Shiva, who was dying because he consumed the . Her iconography is very much similar to Kali. She is also known as Tarini Devi meaning the goddess who makes us cross this delusional Samsara. She's more approachable to devotees because of her maternal instincts. She holds a pair of scissors, blue lotus, scimitar & kapala. Tara has eight forms who are Ekajata, Ugratara, Mahogra, Kameshwari, Chamunda, Neela Saraswati, Vajra, and Bhadrakali.
